Learning How To Be comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

We may not like being uncomfortable with certain aspects of our life, or having other people feel uncomfortable about them, but at some point, we have to realize that we can find comfort amongst this uncomfort. This concept especially applies to parenting, as Jess Shuraleff discusses in this episode.

Jess Shuraleff covers topics such as being a model for your children, dealing with other people’s judgment, and what to do when you’re feeling unprepared or like a bad parent. In becoming comfortable with the uncomfortableness in parenthood, you can feel much more content with your own journey as well as your child’s.

What is the meaning of, “life”?

What is the meaning of, “life”?

One could argue that it is a journey filled with moments where one has to be determined, show up with intention, grit and resilience, over and over again.

At the same time, we can only plan and anticipate a small portion, given how much of life’s journey is unplanned, “still to be determined”, unwritten.

Although the journey may be filled with determination and intention, another argument could be that at the same exact time life can be filled with uncertainty and happens by chance, and unplanned.

Unplanned moments, both great and catastrophic.

Great moments where we meet people and connect on all levels, travel and are enriched unexpectedly. And then there are catastrophic events like 9/11.

Tune in, as Navid and I dive deep into how to find meaning in both, and how your newly developed perspective can lead to a rich story of lived experiences.

Why?

Asking “why” evokes an energy in us that reveals our desire to know, yet it can also be holding us back from really allowing ourselves to explore opportunities without worrying about certain answers.

This episode features Billy Atwell as he discusses how the question “why” influences our journeys and our mindsets, and how we sometimes need to stop asking the question in order to let go. While the desire to seek knowledge may be natural, waiting for the answer to why can be withholding to your potential.

Facing Mortality

At some point in each of our lives, we must come to terms with our morality and understand our place in this world. This also means that we must take advantage of every day since we don’t know how many we have left.

In this episode, Bobbie LaPorte touches on topics such as the desire to serve others, being productive, and focusing on living in the moment. In allowing yourself to think on these points, you can open up your mind and be able to see the possible opportunities that await you in your journey.

Why We Connect With Nature

Nature is all around us, giving off energy that we encounter every day of our lives, and yet a lot of us are not connected with it in the ways we should. In this episode, Thomas Rosenberg discusses why connecting with nature is so important for our character.

Rosenberg describes the connections to ourselves that we receive through connection to nature as well as the connection to a large energy within the universe. Through observation and fascination of different aspects of nature, we can discover things about ourselves, where we came from, and what we are a part of as well as relate that to our history.

We are all alike, on the inside

Every one of us is alike on the inside. Often times, what links us is the compassion we feel for each other and our stories, and how we can relate past the surface level.

In this episode, David J. Flood discusses the impact we can have on each other, feeling compassion for one another, and the importance of sharing our stories. As Flood describes it, although everyone’s story is different, what we gain from those stories and how they move us can be very similar, and it is that feeling that connects each and every one of us.

Aging Does Not Hold You Back

Ageism may not always be recognized when compared to other types of prejudices, but it is still something people face today. In order to break from the stereotypes of ageism, it is important to respect the phase each person is in their life.

In this episode, Paul Long discusses topics such as acknowledging where you are in life, the negative views of getting older, and why it is important to shed those views and be the person you want to be. With ideals such as embracing change and contemplating what comes next in your life, Long explains that you cannot hold yourself back, no matter what age you are.
